Dear students of GROUP 7: Katrijn Vanduffel, Els Vancluysen, , Marita Pylvänäinen

I have just read your draft concerning Module 5 on Adult Education Policy.

I hope you can finish your paper because you are doing a nice job, especially when you refer to educators as political/policy actors and also when you discuss Paradox 4.

Please, try to refer to Paradoxes 1 and 2 and think a little more about your final statement: "a mixture of two policy models". Is it enough? Is it possible? To what extent? I am afraid some of us would say that we are already living in such a "mixture" or ambiguous and confusing combination… What do you think?

It was nice working together with you.

Best wishes and warm regards,

LICÍNIO C. LIMA

Dear students of GROUP 8: Pirjo Töllinen, Emma Causa, Miet Vanhilderson, Karen Wouters

You have presented a quite good synthesis concerning our Module 5 framework, particularly when you refer to C. Griffin's papers. In the end you also point out some interesting comments on "individual reflexivity" and "social responsibility", trying to make use of U. Beck's concepts related to the Risk Society in order to discuss ways out from the social-democratic/neo-liberal tensions and conflicts.

I really hope you can finish your paper by describing some contradictions and paradoxes (from your own countries and experiences) for it will give meaning to the framework, in theoretical and in empirical terms, and it will also better support your final statements.

Hope seeing you again.

All the best.

Dear students of GROUP 9: Anna Palva, Bart Ketelslegers, Melissa Verkley, Mira Van Olmen

You have done a good work, not only describing the main features of the two policy models — social-democratic and neo-liberal — but also giving examples and commenting on actual developments.

In "actual contradictions and paradoxes" you raise important questions and your discussion of "freedom" and "equality" is an interesting and extremely complex one.

When you come to future perspectives you already are looking at signs and possible ways out, especially related to NGO's and new social movements. In this way, maybe you could explore globalisation in social-cultural terms as well as possible alternatives coming from the local/community level to become also "globalised" (but not in economic terms).

Best wishes, warmest regards.

Yours

LICÍNIO C. LIMA
