Happy New Year!
The Friends of the American Library would like to wish you a very happy and
productive new year.
December's Open House and Book Sale was a record success! Book sales totaled over 11,000
francs and the Library gained over sixty new members who took advantage of the special
rates available on that day.
We would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the day a success. Many thanks
to the American Women's Group for donating time and delicious baked goodies.
A big thank you also goes out to AIR LITTORAL, The BOOKSHOP, McDonald's
and SOS PIZZA for providing the great prizes for our raffle.
Coming Events
During the next semester, the Friends of the American Library will be sponsoring
several special events including interesting conferences, book presentations, multimedia
presentations and theater.

La Bibliothèque Américaine, en association avec La Librairie Molière, Actes Sud et
le département d’anglais de l’Université Paul Valéry, organise une rencontre
avec Hubert NYSSEN, écrivain, éditeur-fondateur d’Actes Sud, qui a fait découvrir
et publier en France les oeuvres de Paul Auster. Il sera accompagné de Madame Christine
Le Boeuf, traductrice de Paul Auster.

Un voyage aux Etats-Unis : "Visiting two deserts in California"
Projection de diapositives et commentaire en anglais par Rösly Schott (texte disponible
à la Bibliothèque).
Vendredi 16 mai dans l’après-midi (heure à préciser)
La troupe d’acteurs professionnels de San Francisco "Word for Word"
nous présentera leur mise en scène de la nouvelle d’Edith Wharton,
"Xingu" Les acteurs (huit au total) aimeraient être logés chez l’habitant
la veille et le soir de la représentation. Les volontaires peuvent se faire connaître à
la bibliothèque.
